This series investigates the concept of thrown away photography. I focused my attention on family images that have either been lost, sold or disposed of, collecting thousands of slides, photos and letters. I divided this project in to three series, the first of which concentrates on individual characters seen regularly throughout the many photographs that have been collected. By creating intimate portraits of these individuals, reflecting on the personal connection I have formed whilst continuously viewing numerous images of these anonymous figures. The second series is a selection of images taken from the extensive collection of over 2000 slides and photographs. This edited selection was then used in videos and installations. The third series in this project focused on the numerous letters that were collected. By hand-editing image and text together, the aim is to present intimate family portraits and apply context by overlapping them with hand-written letters.
